Bingham Primary School pupils had an exciting visit today from Bingham Fire Station, part of Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service.
The pupils were lucky enough to have four firemen visit the school and spend time with them.
Officers used their training and expertise to deliver fire safety messages in a sensitive and reassuring way, so the children understood the importance of home fire safety without becoming worried about a fire happening in their home.
Children from EYFS and Key Stage 1 learned about common fire hazards, and to never play with matches and lighters. They were also taught how to ‘drop and roll’ and how to keep their homes safe from fire, what to do in an emergency if there is a fire, and how to call 999.
The children were then thrilled to be able to see the fire engine up close and look at the fire equipment. Miss Hart dressed up in full fire kit, which she said was very hot!
